Aircraft Painter

Blue Collar Services is looking for a career Aircraft Painter with at least 3 years of verifiable work history in the aviation industry

• Surface Preparation: Cleaning, sanding, stripping, and masking surfaces to ensure optimal paint adhesion and protecting areas not to be painted.
• Paint Mixing and Application: Mixing primers, sealants, and topcoats according to manufacturer specifications and applying them using various techniques like spraying, brushing, and rolling.
• Design and Detail Work: Laying out paint schemes, applying lettering, insignias, stripes, and completing other detailed designs using aids like templates and stencils.
• Quality Control & Inspection: Inspecting painted surfaces for defects, ensuring proper thickness, adhesion, gloss, and uniformity of color, as well as verifying compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Equipment Maintenance: Cleaning and maintaining painting equipment and tools, ensuring they are in proper working order.
• Safety Compliance: Adhering to safety regulations and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) like respirators, gloves, and protective clothing when handling chemicals and working with paint.
• Documentation and Reporting: Recording details of work performed, including materials used and procedures followed.

Essential qualifications

• Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience: Previous experience as an aircraft painter or in a related field like auto body or industrial painting is typically preferred.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in paint mixing, surface preparation (sanding, masking), applying various coatings (primers, sealants, topcoats), using spray guns and other painting equipment, as well as the ability to interpret technical diagrams and instructions.
• Safety Knowledge: Understanding of safety protocols related to handling hazardous materials and working in a paint shop environment.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding, work in confined spaces, lift heavy equipment, and maintain physical stamina for extended periods.
• Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, precision, teamwork, communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are also valued.
